Exhausted and increasingly incoherent, Morgan (Dennis Hopper) bails up a wealthy family, the McPhersons, as the Victorian police close in. He becomes maudlin as he reflects on the life he has missed out on.
Curator’s notes
Dennis Hopper’s performance was both praised and ridiculed at the time of release. It has some effective moments, as well as some that are incoherent. This is one of the better scenes of his character’s disintegration and unpredictability.
