This black-and-white footage features a rarely seen playful Dame Nellie Melba relaxing in her home.
Spencer Shier was a stills and moving image photographer who worked in Melbourne during the 1920s and 1930s. He made a number of home movies and also filmed society weddings. The National Gallery of Victoria holds around 200 of Shier’s photographs.
