This Australasian edition of the Pathe Animated Gazette newsreel contains four news items, including the first instalment of Australian bank notes and the opening of the Pakington Street Infant School in Kew, Victoria.
Curator’s notes
Australasian editions of the Gazette combined local and international news items and screened to cinema audiences from around 1908 until the First World War. Newsreels screening before the feature film were an integral part of cinema programming in Australia before the advent of television in 1956.
