Curator’s clip description

Pugwall (Jason Torrens) has terrible trouble trying to convince his parents he needs an amplifier. They just seem to lecture him all the time, while in comparison, Ortho’s (Jay McCormack) parents are really helpful, letting the band paint the garage and practise in there. Pugwall thinks they’re great.

Curator’s notes

This clip captures Pugwall’s good-natured but frustrating relationship with his parents and his sister Marion. His earnest Dad is Ken James, child star from Skippy, making a return to television in this series after a long absence. Supes, Pugwall’s over the top, no nonsense Mum is played by Louise Hall who also co-produced the series. Marion, or Marmaloid (Emma Snow) is his bratty younger sister, a constant thorn in Pugwall’s side. In keeping with the tone of the series, Pugwall’s relationship with his caring but at times annoying family is an accepting and loving one and so he deals with these frustrations fairly gracefully. Ortho’s dry comment about his Russian parents at the end of the clip is priceless.
